- Give information about your movement out of town only to trusted neighbours.
- Do not board a vehicle along the road, with two or more passengers already inside. They may be armed robbers or kidnappers.
- Enter or board vehicles only at recognized and designated motor parks.
- Screen and do a basic KYC on your house helps or guards before employing them.
- When on a long journey, anytime it gets dark, check into the nearest hotel and continue the next day.
- Never open the door of your house to unknown persons. Teach your house help and children the same.
- Always make sure there is airtime/data in your mobile device or phones at night. You might need it to save your life or that of another.
- Avoid keeping large sums of money at home. Use the banks.
- Always ask for the identity of persons who pose as security personnel, power holding, or other utility staff, before opening your home or office door.
- If you are driving and notice that suspicious persons are following or tracking you, drive straight to the nearest police station.
- Be sure to always lock all your doors and windows at night.
- Do well to provide adequate security lights in your home and business premises.
- Remove any objects such as ladder, table, stool, etc., that could enable someone gain access into your house.
- Screen domestic staff before employment and obtain their photographs and that of their guarantors.
- Regularly vary or change your normal routes to and from the bank.
- Call the emergency numbers if you suspect any strange movements around your premises.
