All Presidents and Director Generals of City Chambers in the South-East are encouraged to mobilize their members, especially those who are interested in doing business within and across the West African sub region and countries.

The ECOWAS Trade Liberalization Scheme (ETLS) is an initiative by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to promote economic integration among its 15 member countries.

The ETLS was established in 1979 and at that time only covered agricultural products and handmade crafts. By 1990 it was expanded to include industrial products. This expansion required the formulation of rules to define the concept of “products originating” from ECOWAS.

The benefits of the ECOWAS Trade Liberalization Scheme (ETLS) include the elimination of customs duties and other charges with respect to trade flows among member countries; the abolition of quantitative and administrative restrictions on trade flows among member states; and the establishment of a common customs tariff and commercial policy.
